Polyhydroxystearic Acid is a polymeric dispersant used to improve the stability and uniformity of pigments, mineral UV filters, and actives in oil-based systems. Commonly used in sunscreens, BB creams, and makeup, it helps enhance spreadability and prevents clumping or settling in formulations.
Polyhydroxystearic Acid is used in formulation for its ability to wet and stabilize solid particles within oils, ensuring even application and better performance. It is especially useful in creating smooth textures in pigmented systems, emulsions, and sunscreens containing physical UV filters. It can also help reduce whitening and improve product feel.
Use in the oil phase of your formulation. Pre-mix with pigments or powders before combining with the rest of the oil phase. Shear mixing is recommended for optimal dispersion.
