Carrageenan is a natural polysaccharide extracted from red seaweed, used as a vegan-friendly gelling and thickening agent. It forms soft, flexible gels and enhances the texture and stability of skincare and haircare products. Ideal for clean-label formulations looking to avoid synthetic thickeners.
Carrageenan is a marine-derived gum extracted from red algae (Rhodophyceae). It is valued for its ability to form gels, provide viscosity, and stabilize emulsions. Carrageenan is commonly used as a vegan substitute for gelatin and works well in water-based formulations that require a clean, smooth texture.
Disperse into warm or hot water (60–80°C) and allow it to fully hydrate while mixing. For smoother results, pre-blend with glycerin before adding to water.
Add to water phase under agitation and heat to dissolve. Use with xanthan gum or other polymers for enhanced structure.
