Tranexamic Acid is a non-exfoliating, amino acid–derived brightening ingredient used to reduce the appearance of dark spots, melasma, and post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH). It is well-tolerated and suitable for sensitive and reactive skin types.
Tranexamic Acid works by inhibiting melanin production triggered by inflammation and UV exposure. It is not an exfoliant or acid in the traditional sense and is suitable for long-term use with fewer side effects compared to ingredients like hydroquinone or retinoids. It is especially effective when combined with niacinamide, azelaic acid, or Vitamin C derivatives.
