Beta-Glucan is a naturally derived polysaccharide commonly sourced from oats, valued for its ability to support skin hydration and barrier function while helping reduce visible irritation. Its film-forming and water-binding properties make it especially useful in sensitive-skin, post-treatment, and barrier-repair formulations.

Usage Guidelines

• Recommended use level: 0.1–1%
• Do not add powder directly into water, as this may cause clumping or incomplete hydration.
• Pre-disperse Beta-Glucan by creating a slurry with glycerin, propanediol, or butylene glycol at a ratio of 1 part Beta-Glucan : 3–5 parts glycol until a smooth paste forms.
• Add this slurry into the water phase with continuous mixing to ensure uniform dispersion.
• Heat the water phase to approximately 60–70°C and mix for 15–25 minutes to allow full hydration and activation.
• Continue mixing during cool-down to develop optimal texture and film-forming performance.
• Stable across a typical cosmetic pH range of approximately 4–7.
• Best suited for leave-on products to maximize skin-conditioning and barrier-support benefits.

Formulation Tips

• Pairs well with hyaluronic acid, polyglutamic acid, or glycerin for layered hydration systems
• Combine with soothing actives such as panthenol, allantoin, or aloe for enhanced skin comfort
