Why Use Urea in Skincare?

Urea is a dual-function cosmetic active that hydrates the skin while softening and breaking down dry, rough patches. At lower concentrations (1–10%), it acts as a potent humectant, drawing moisture into the skin. At higher concentrations (10–40%), it exhibits keratolytic action gently exfoliating dead skin and loosening thickened or hardened areas.

• Deeply hydrates by binding water to skin cells
• Improves skin barrier and prevents transepidermal water loss (TEWL)
• Softens rough, flaky, or cracked skin
• Mild exfoliation without irritation
• Supports treatment of dry feet, elbows, and keratosis pilaris

• Moisturizing creams and body lotions
• Foot and hand creams for cracked or thickened skin
• Soothing creams for eczema, psoriasis, or atopic skin
• Formulations for keratosis pilaris or callus reduction

Usage Guidelines:

• Use at 1–5% for daily moisturizers and sensitive-skin formulas
• Use at 5–10% in barrier repair creams, hand/foot lotions
• Dissolve in the water phase at 40–50°C; avoid heating above 60°C to preserve activity
