Disodium EDTA is a highly effective chelating agent used to bind and deactivate trace metal ions in cosmetic formulations. This improves product stability, prevents discoloration, and enhances the efficacy of preservatives, particularly in water-based and emulsion systems.
Disodium EDTA (ethylenediaminetetraacetic acid disodium salt) is used in cosmetic and personal care products to bind metal ions such as iron, calcium, and magnesium. These ions can destabilize formulations, reduce preservative performance, and cause product discoloration or degradation over time. EDTA helps maintain stability, clarity, and shelf life.
Dissolve Disodium EDTA into the water phase of your formulation. It is most effective when added early to allow uniform metal ion sequestration.
Add to water phase under gentle mixing. Heat is not required but may speed solubility.
