Carnauba Wax is a natural, high-melting-point wax obtained from the leaves of the Brazilian Carnauba palm. It is widely used in lipsticks, balms, and pressed powders to increase gloss, hardness, and durability—while offering a completely plant-based and vegan alternative to animal-derived waxes.

    Commonly Used In:

    • Lipsticks and lip balms
    • Pressed powders and eyeshadows
    • Stick foundations and cream-to-powder formulas
    • Natural wax-based mascaras and brow products
    • Hard-finish balms and barrier sticks
  • What is Carnauba Wax?

Carnauba Wax is a vegetable wax harvested from the leaves of the Carnauba palm tree (Copernicia cerifera), known as the “queen of waxes” for its superior hardness, gloss, and thermal stability. It’s often used to enhance shine, create protective films, and build structure in both makeup and skincare formulas.

    Why Use Carnauba Wax?

    • Natural & Vegan: 100% plant-derived and biodegradable
    • High Gloss: Adds shine and polish to lipsticks and balms
    • Firm Texture: Builds structure and hardness in sticks and solids
    • Film-Forming: Helps create long-wearing, water-resistant finishes
    • Pressed Powder Binder: Assists in pressing and binding powdered makeup

    Performance Highlights

    • Stable at high temperatures—excellent for hot-fill formulas
    • Pairs well with beeswax, candelilla, or ozokerite for custom texture blends
    • Leaves a smooth, glossy finish without greasiness

    Additional Application Examples:

    • Lip gloss sticks and tinted balms
    • Pressed blushes, bronzers, and highlighters
    • Emulsified barrier creams or protective sticks
    • Vegan wax polishes and surface protectants (non-cosmetic)

    Formulation Tip:

Due to its high melting point, Carnauba Wax should be combined with lower-melting waxes or emollients for better pourability and feel. Start with 3%–10% in lip formulas and adjust based on hardness or shine needed.

    How to Use

Add to the oil phase and heat until fully melted. Combine with other waxes or butters to adjust final product texture and application feel.

    • Heat to 85°C – 90°C
    • Blend with oils, waxes, or esters
    • Stir until fully dissolved and homogeneous
    • Pour and allow to cool undisturbed
