Function:Skin Brightener, Anti-Acne Agent, and Texture Refiner
Azelaic Acid is naturally derived from grains like barley, wheat, and rye. It is known for its gentle yet potent properties that target uneven skin tone, acne, and textural irregularities.
Its brightening capabilities help reduce the appearance of dark spots and discoloration.
Works best in formulations with a pH of 4.0-5.5, ensuring stability and effectiveness without causing irritation. Best to use between 0.3% - 5% in formulations.
Note: Azelaic acid is currently a restricted ingredient in Canada with a maximum usage rate of 14% in cosmetic products. There are currently no usage restrictions by FDA or EU.
Azelaic acid is water-insoluble but dissolves well in glycol-based solvents like propylene glycol or dimethyl isosorbide (DMI). It should be added to a formulation with proper dispersion to prevent clumping.
